UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIOKSIDAN EKSTRAK AKAR BAKAU HITAM (Rhizophora mucronata (Lamk.)) DENGAN METODE DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl)

Indonesia merupakan negara yang memiliki keberagaman ekosistem bahari yang menyimpan banyak potensi, salah satunya adalah mangrove. Rhizophora mucronata merupakan salah satu spesies pada ekosistem mangrove yang berada di Indonesia. Rhizophora mucronata atau bakau hitam merupakan tanaman yang memiliki berbagai macam kandungan senyawa. Antioksidan berperan penting dalam pencegahan penyakit degeneratif. Penelitian ini didorong oleh adanya bahaya karsinogenik yang ditimbulkan akibat mengkonsumsi antioksidan sintetik sehingga ingin menggali potensi antioksidan alami dari Rhizophora mucronata. Pemilihan akar Rhizophora mucronata pada penelitian ini karena belum ada yang meneliti potensi tumbuhan yang tumbuh di daerah Pamurbaya, Surabaya – Jawa Timur ini sebagai antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kandungan metabolit sekunder serta aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak akar Rhizophora mucronata. Pada penelitian ini uji aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan metode DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan pada ekstrak metanol akar Rhizophora mucronata memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang sanagt lemah dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 2604,56 ppm. Potensi antioksidan dari ekstrak metanol akar Rhizophora mucronata ini memiliki nilai IC50 dengan intensitas antioksidan yang sangat lemah.
